What is Microsoft Teams?

Teams is a Microsoft 365 application that is used by your teachers to communicate with the class, share learning materials and conduct online lessons. It can be used for real-time collaboration and communication, including calls, chat messages and in-channel conversations, meetings/online lessons and file/resource sharing.

When you enrol, your teachers will add you to the relevant Teams sites that will be used throughout your time on the course.

Your teacher may use Teams to:

  • Run online lessons using a Scheduled Meeting or Meet now.
  • Send messages to the whole group or directly.
  • Share activities, files, links and other teaching materials.
  • Use the Class Notebook feature
  • Set assignments and quizzes.

What is Microsoft Teams?

How do I log in to Microsoft Teams?

Open either the Teams desktop app, online version, or tablet/smartphone version, then sign in using your Loughborough College email and password.

Do I need my college login after I download the software?

You will require your login credentials to use any Microsoft 365 software downloaded to your computer. Once you finish your course you will need to switch to your new provider OR buy the software yourself.

Can I download Microsoft 365 apps?

You can download and install Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Once signed into the Microsoft 365 website look for the ‘Install apps’ button.

Microsoft 365 has stopped working.

You may have been signed out, make sure you have signed in using your Microsoft 365 username (college email) and password. If you have left the college you may no longer have an account and won’t be able to use the software.
