General Information

The Library provides self-service laptops for students to use for college work anywhere on campus.

To borrow a laptop, you can access the self-service laptop machine anytime during the College’s opening hours. Simple scan your student ID card and follow on-screen instructions. If this is your first time borrowing, you will need to register (see instructions at the bottom of the page). Once ready, a locker will open. Unplug the laptop from charging, take it, and close the locker.

Laptops can be borrowed for up to 6 hours and, although they can be used anywhere on campus, they cannot be taken offsite. If you need to borrow a laptop for a whole day, you will need to return it at lunch and take out a new one for the afternoon.

Returning Laptops

To return your laptop, scan your ID card on the self-service machine. A locker will open. Put the laptop inside and plug in the charging cable. Once done, shut the locker door and the return process will be complete. You will then be able to borrow a new laptop.

Remember to return your laptop on time, plug in the charging cable, and shut the locker door completely. These steps are crucial to register that your laptop has been returned. Failure to do so may result in you not being able to borrow in the future. Speak to the Library staff to unblock your account.

Registering for the Self-Service

To register for the self-service, you need to scan your student ID card on the laptop locker and follow the instructions on screen. A QR code will appear which you will need to scan using a mobile device. If you do not own a mobile device, ask the Library staff for assistance. Avoid using another student’s mobile device, as it could lead to incorrect details being registered under your name.

Accept the terms and conditions to finish registration. You will now be able to borrow a laptop by scanning your ID card and following the instructions.

If you have any questions or problems during registration, contact the Library staff.
