PTSD
How can I look after myself?
Coping with flashbacks – focus on your breathing, carry an object that reminds you of the present, keep a diary, try grounding techniques, tell yourself that you are safe.
Learn your triggers – do certain smells, sounds, words, people, places trigger the symptoms? Knowing these triggers can allow you to prepare and take care of yourself.
Talk to someone – it may help to talk to a friend, family member or a professional such as a GP.
Give yourself time – be patient with yourself, it is important to take things at your own pace.
