Bereavement
When someone you are close with dies, you may experience a range of different emotions. Everyone experiences loss differently and there is no set way to think or feel.
Common feelings might include:
- sadness
- shock
- anger
- guilt
- tiredness or feelings of exhaustion
What can you do to support yourself?
There are things which you might like to try which you may find helpful:
Talking– talk to someone you feel comfortable with. This might be another relative, a friend, the HE Welfare Team or the chaplaincy
Allow yourself to feel – there are many emotions that you might experience during the grieving period. Allow yourself to feel and process these emotions. This is perfectly normal and healthy
Time- there is no time limit to grief and can it often be experience in waves. Do not put pressure on yourself
Self-care – ensure you look after yourself as much as you can. Trying to maintain a healthy sleep routine, getting outside in the fresh air and eating well are important
