Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is Microsoft Teams?

Software that you can use to access online seminars and lessons.  You will also be able to contact your lecturer and access shared files and activities.

What is the different between Teams Online and Teams Desktop?

You can access Microsoft Teams online where you can access a compatible internet browser.  The online version may not offer all of the features you need.  The Desktop App will run on your operating system (e.g. Windows) and is a stand alone application that doesn’t require a web browser.  This means it will probably be more reliable and stable during use.  You should also be able to access all of the features available that you may be required to use.

Can I use Teams through my tablet computer or smart phone app?

Yes.  You can download the app for both IOS and Android which will enable you to access your class teams as normal.  You may find it more difficult to interact and complete work using this version of Microsoft Teams, so we recommend you use the Desktop App instead, where you can be sure all of the features will be available for you to use.

How do I log in to Microsoft Teams?

You can log in using either the online version of Microsoft Teams, the Desktop App or the tablet/smartphone versions of the App.

I can't log in.

If you can’t log in to Microsoft Teams, the most likely issue is that your username and/or password is incorrect.  Your username will be your email address (e.g. 123456@student.loucoll.ac.uk) and your password will be your normal password.  If you have forgotten your password, go to your.loucoll.ac.uk to reset it.

I can't see my team / class.

The most likely cause of this problem is that you have not been added to the class team by your tutor/lecturer.  Please contact them by email and ask them to add you.  Alternatively, you may be able to get automatically added to a class team by finding your course, unit, or module on LearnZone or HELearnZone.  If you have any queries regarding how to get access to your class team please contact your tutor/lecturer by email.
